Ventilation Having a ventilation system that provides appropriate climate control within a poultry house is essential to the well-being of the birds and ultimately how successful a house will be. Ventilation falls into two categories; Forced and Natural Forced Ventilation Jimmy Killen’s has worked with all the main providers of forced ventilation systems in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. By working with the company providing our client’s climate control system, we are able to leave provisions in our panels and roof to incorporate their specific vents and fans. Wind baffles/ Vent Boxes Depending on our client’s preferences we are able to provide external vent boxes/baffles which allow the free flow of air whilst preventing the affects of prevailing winds. These are all designed for ease of cleaning. Light excluders can also be fitted when required. Natural Ventilation Natural ventilation systems have an open roof ridge to allow the escape of foul air and side inlet vents which allow the flow of fresh air into the house. Jimmy Killen’s has developed a system which works off a rack and pinion mechanism, which allows the both the opening of ridge and side vent doors to be easily adjusted, usually this is by means of a manual winch, but powered motors can also been installed. All our vent doors are insulated and fitted with draft excluders. The draft excluders improve the performance of the system by helping to direct the flow of fresh air. The open ridge is covered by a raised canopy which has been designed to give the best flow of foul air away from the house whilst its durable withstand prolonged exposure to the elements. |
